I was anxious to get my facts correct so embarked on some research concerning Albert's family history. The key fact I had discovered was that there were two Albert's born and baptised in the same church in 1855: 1855 Apr 15 Albert STRANGE of Charles STRANGE & Caroline (not the artist). 1855 Aug 26 Albert George STRANGE of George STRANGE & Sarah Eliza (Note that he was baptised Albert George, not just Albert) I initially based my investigations on the pedigree given as Appendix 4 in a book about the man "Yacht Designer and Artist 1855-1917" by John Leather. I located baptismal details for all of Albert's full siblings shown in the book and found that there was another, George baptised 1848 Oct 22. I also found a probable baptism of Albert's father George, 1825 May 11 in St Peter and St Paul, Milton by Gravesend. As only his mother's name is recorded (Elizabeth Strange) I am wondering if John Leather came upon the same evidence and that is why he stated that George was of uncertain parentage? Intriguingly none of the references I have found have mention George's name as being the L'STRANGE; I wonder what John Leather's source was? Note that all references I have located concerning Albert's mother state Eliza not Elizabeth as is given in the book. I don't know if this information is already known generally but I have assembled a pedigree that I believe represents the man's family with fair accuracy. Download the GEDCOM and check it out for me; your observations will be welcomed.
