4.2 From: Maggie June 2006 - Oadby Stranges
I had occasion to park in front of Oadby Trinity Methodist church recently, and  noticed that what appears to be the foundation block on the left hand side at  the front of the church appears to have been laid in memory of an Elizabeth   Strange - no clue as to who laid the block, and no date either.

Rob replied - Yes, the present Oadby Trinity Methodist Church was built and consecrated in 1931.  My grandfather, Charles Strange, was apparently due to lay the foundation stone in memory of his late mother, Elizabeth Strange (nee Voss) - she was the daughter of the Sunday School superintendent throughout the Victorian era,  George Voss. My father William Strange, aged 20 at the time (but on the photo looked about 40!), actually laid the stone on the day because his father Charles was apparently unwell.  Well spotted, Maggie!
