Nora Kathleen Strange aka Mrs Nora Kathleen Begbie Stanley
"I am trying to find out as much as I can about Nora K Strange, born 11 September1885, a romantic novelist. She comes from the Scottish side, probably related to the Anstruthers, and was well connected. I have traced a society photograph of her from the nineteen thirties. I can't trace her death or will. She married into the Stanley family and she did live in Kenya in the early nineteen hundreds and wrote about it. She was writing fiction until the fifties at least. Romantic novelists were not highly regarded, so, although prolific, nothing much has been recorded about her and her old publishers are now all defunct and the firms that bought them have destroyed their records.
I am trying to find out about what sort of person she was and would appreciate any leads which people can give me.It would be great to be able to talk to anybody who new her.
[Ed - I have been doing a little work with Myra to try and find some more. We know she was born September 11 1885 and we do have a mention of her in the Calendar of Wills:
"James Anstruther Strange of Tamok Rubber Estates Mergui Lower Burma died 11 June 1930 at the Mergui Hospital Lower Burma. Administration London 23 Aug to Nora Kathleen Begbie Stanley (wife of Edward Gower Stanley). Effects £5103.13s.3d."]
From Archie Lumsden I am the Sennachie (Historian) for the House of Lumsden Association. I am acqainted with Major Timothy Lumisden Strange (House of Strange Association) of Balcaskie, who in 1995 was recognised by the Court of the Lord Lyon in Scotland as Chief of the Name and Arms of Strang/Strange as the direct male descendant of Sir Robert Strange and Isabella Lumisden.
From Andrew Sellon My paternal grandmother was Gwendolyn DUNDAS, (of the Arniston branch). My sister Suzan married a LUMSDEN. Both these families have STRANGE links.

This was found in The Scotsman newspaper archives- Death/Funeral notice 28 Sept 1918
"STRANG - At 1 Moira Terrace,Edinburgh on 27th September 1918, William Strang, Commercial Superintendant of the North British Railway in his 85th year. Funeral from 1 Moira Terrace on Monday at 8.30am, thence by 9.30am train from Waverley Station to Largo (arriving 11.47am). Friends please accept this as the only intimation."

Canon Mark Strange, Rector of Holy Trinity, Elgin, has been elected as the new Bishop for the diocese of Moray, Ross & Caithness. On hearing of his election, Canon Strange said that he was "excited by this opportunity". He is married with three children, and has a great love of the outdoors, including hill-walking and camping. The installation of the new Bishop will take place in October in St Andrew's Cathedral, Inverness.
