STRANGE in Somerset

Lynn Strange married me at Bathford church, St Swithins in June 1977. We have two sons, Graham (1980) and Neil (1983).

Lynn has two sisters, Ann Kathryn (now Wade) and Melanie Jane (was Book, now Verrall). Lynn is the middle sister.
Lynn's father was in the forces so Ann was born in Singapore (1956), Lynn in Bath (1959) and Melanie in Wegberg, West Germany (1969).

Lynn's parents are Kenneth Montcalm Ralph Strange (born Gibraltar 1934) who married (1955) Shirley Blanchard from Bathford, near Bath. Again Ken's father was in the forces.
Ken's siblings are Alan Percival Strange, Margery, Betty Noreen Strange, Bernard Frank Strange, Robert Leslie Strange, Monica Daisy Strange (who died on 25 June 2001 in Australia), and Susan Pauline Strange.

Apart from Ken, we think all the others were born in Bathford, Somerset, or possibly Monkton Farleigh which is up the hill from Bathford but is in Wiltshire. All are between 60 and 70 years of age. Some migrated to Australia but the others still live locally in and around Bath.

Their parents were Perival Frank Strange and Margery Gladys Packer who married in Lansdown, Bath in 1924. Their siblings were Mary, Dorothy, William, Percival, Frederick, Heather, Gwen and Lilian. We believe all up to Frederick were born in Otago Terrace, Larkhall Bath. The family then moved to Perfect Place, top of Camden in Bath, then to SunnySide, Eastborne Avenue, Bath. Their father (Lynn's great grandfather) was Frederick Strange who married Daisy.

BATH CHRONICLE
February 1990, it is titled "A Strange old family gathering!".
"MEMBERS of an old-established Bath family travelled to the city from all parts of the country at the weekend for a special reunion in the Pump Room. The event was organised by Mrs Heather Stopp, of Fairfield Park, Bath, who had originally been Heather Strange. She was one of nine children in the Strange family but only four were left to attend the gathering. They travelled from around the country with their families and old family friends to dance until the wee, small hours swapping new stories and telling old ones. Mrs Stopp said: "Some people have not seen each other for a long time so it seemed like a good idea to get everyone together again." Altogether between 80 and 100 family and friends attended the reunion. There is also a picture of "Sisters Dorothy Prentice, Heather Stopp and Betty Morley, whose maiden name is Strange, at their reunion in the Pump Room"
