By the time of the 1851 census a William Strange of the correct age was living nearby and was listed as a plumber, perhaps then working as a plumber in his own right. This William STRANGE was almost certainly the William Henry STRANGE who was baptised at Watlington, 31 July 1823; married Mary Ann KING (born c1829) Q2 1852 Wycombe Registration District and was buried at Stokenchurch, age 42, 22 Nov 1867. When Thomas Slatter Snr died suddenly at work in 1845 William Henry Strange was a witness to this and the account can be found on the SLATTER page.
In the 1851 census William Henry Strange was in a Hut in Wood in Stokenchurch; he was single. a visitor, aged and Painter and Glazier born in Watlington, Oxon. By 1861 he was married, still in Stokenchurch, Oxfordshire having extended his trades to include that of painter. (See 2.3 - 1861 Census below)
